Data Deletion Instructions

CommentLink takes your data, and your followers' data, seriously. This page tells you exactly how to delete it. This page is the public data deletion endpoint required by Meta's Platform Terms for any application that connects to Instagram.

If you are a CommentLink account holder

You can delete your account and all associated data yourself, at any time, from inside the app:

1. Sign in at app.commentlink.in/login.
2. Go to Settings → Account.
3. Click Delete my account.
4. Confirm by typing your email. The action is irreversible.

What gets deleted:

• Your profile, billing details, and subscription record.
• Every connected Instagram account, including its access token and webhook subscription.
• All automations, contacts, conversations, messages, link-click events, and analytics rows for those accounts.
• Team-member records for the deleted accounts.

Timelines:

• Immediately: automations are paused and webhooks for your Instagram accounts are unsubscribed via Meta's API.
• Within 24 hours: the data is purged from our active databases.
• Within 30 days: the data is purged from all secondary stores (search indexes, caches).
• Within 90 days: rolling encrypted backups containing your data are overwritten and unrecoverable.

If you prefer not to use the in-app option, email privacy@commentlink.in from the address on your account. We'll process the deletion within 30 days and email you a confirmation when complete.

If you are an Instagram follower (end user)

You may have received an automated DM from a creator who uses CommentLink. You did not sign up with CommentLink directly — we processed your interaction on behalf of the creator. You have two ways to be removed:

Option A — Reply STOP (fastest, no email needed)

Reply to the DM with the single word STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, or REMOVE. You will be flagged as opted out immediately and that creator will never auto-DM you again via CommentLink. Your contact record is retained only as a tombstone so we know not to message you in future; you can request full erasure via Option B.

Option B — Email us

Email privacy@commentlink.in with:

• Your Instagram username (and Instagram user ID if you know it).
• The handle of the creator whose automation messaged you (if known).
• Whether you want a deletion (full erasure) or just an opt-out.

We process such requests within 30 days. For deletion requests, we purge all messages, link clicks, captured fields, tags, and conversation history associated with your Instagram user ID.

If you revoked CommentLink in Instagram's settings

You can revoke CommentLink's access to any Instagram account at any time from Instagram itself:

1. Open Instagram → Settings & privacy → Apps and websites.
2. Find CommentLink in the active applications list.
3. Tap Remove.

When Meta notifies us of the revocation, we automatically:

• Pause all automations for that Instagram account.
• Mark the account's stored access token as revoked and discard it.
• Show a "Reconnect required" banner in the dashboard.

Revoking access alone does not delete your data — it only prevents CommentLink from acting on your behalf going forward. To delete your data too, follow the account-holder deletion flow above.

Confirmation code

Meta requires we provide a way for end users to verify a deletion request. If you've emailed us a deletion request, our reply will include a unique 16-character confirmation code (for example CMLNK-7XF2-A91B-PNX3). Keep that code — you can email privacy@commentlink.in with the code anytime to confirm the deletion completed and to receive a final written acknowledgement.

What we don't delete

For legal compliance and fraud prevention, we may retain the following for the periods stated:

• Invoices and tax records — 8 years per Indian GST law.
• Anonymised aggregate metrics (e.g. "this month our app sent X total DMs") — indefinitely. These contain no personal data.
• Security logs indicating that a deletion occurred (audit trail) — 12 months.
